Hello, my name is Jamie Culbertson! MY VITALS --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------  Occupation: Proposal Writer Home town: North Augusta, SC Favorite Book: The Great Gatsby Summer Session Enrolled in ENH241: Summer 2009 Why are you taking this class? I am currently on a "path of correction" for what I want to be when I grow up. This class offers me the opportunity to now read and understand many of the great classics that I missed during my first time through college. Why this particular class instead of another class that fulfilled the same requirements? I liked that it's focused on American Literature. What do you want to learn from this class? I want to read great books. I've always wanted to read Whitman, I've just never taken the time. I also think I'm going to learn a whole lot about technology that I didn't even know existed. What do you expect to do in this class? Having watched the videos, I know that we'll be updating period and author pages. I expect to research about periods, themes, and authors, as well as read books and poems too. What else you should know about me: I have a crazy life. I work as a proposal writer for a construction management firm with tight deadlines and a lot of pressure. I have a bachelor's degree in communications from the University of South Carolina Aiken. Last year, I took a creative writing class in hopes of bringing life into the proposals that I write for work. I realized that I loved reading and writing so much and have decided that in my mid-thirties that I'd like to change my career. I've had enough of Corporate America and its shenanigans. I want to be a professor, a book editor, and a freelace writer. So, my path of correction has begun and this course is part of it. I'm enrolled in three more english course this year and will apply for graduate school at NAU this summer. In addition to my work and school life, I am mom to a two-year son, two dogs, and two turtles. I also have a husband with an insane travel schedule, for someone who works in the insurance industry, his schedule as a pilot couldn't be much different.
