MORE ABOUT ME...

Hi, my name is Amanda Martinez and I will be a senior at Arizona State University this fall. I’m taking this class because it fulfills a requirement for my major of English Literature. I’m taking this particular class over another that fulfills the same requirements, because I prefer American literature to British Literature, which was my other option. From this class I would like to learn about the different authors that fall within the particular time periods we will be studying. I also want to learn how to use technologies I am unfamiliar with, such as Timerime and Wetpaint Wiki because I believe it is a huge advantage to be well rounded with technology. Along with the authors, I expect to learn a lot about the various literary periods of American literature pre-1860. I’m vaguely familiar with those listed on the website, but expect to learn much more in depth regarding the different periods. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

May I just begin by saying that you have a pretty great name.
I also prefer American literature to British, but for me both were required. I am little jealous you were able to avoid a British Lit class.
I also want to learn how to use the technologies that are new. They are helpful in different ways then the standard that most people expect. I think it adds a different level of interest to the class.

Good luck at ASU next year and Congrats on your upcoming graduation.

Good afternoon Amanda. I agree with you on wanting to learn the different usage of technology. When I began to set up accounts for the different websites, I hadn't heard of wiki or timerime. I'm curious as to how these could be used in my classroom when I begin teaching.

I'm thrilled you are excited about learning the technologies; however, were these a goal prior to seeing this "version" of the course?
