This website provided a few different definitions for the word "eccentricity". I found it useful as a dictionary, but it did not relate the term to literature, and the information provided was limited. The information seems accurate, but there aren't any cited sources and the site construction seems a little amateur.

I liked this source a lot. It is all about the psychology behind eccentric behavior. I would have really benefited from using this source in my own paper about Poe. I couldn't find any cited sources on this Wiki, but the student summary says they are there, so its reliability is questionable.

This source provides an glimpse into eccentricity as it applies to past and modern creative types. It may be helpful, although I think it is limited because it doesn’t define eccentricity as much as apply it using examples. I think in this case there is credibility, despite the .com address, because the site is run by a psychologist as a self-help reference.

Although Cambridge is a credible name in dictionaries, I didn’t find this source helpful. The few definitions available refer back to the word ‘eccentric,’ which is then described only as an adjective meaning “strange or unusual, sometimes in an amusing way.” Sometimes amusing? How, when, and how is it not in an amusing way? I don’t think this is specific enough to be useful. It suggests more definitions, which aren’t provided.

This source was helpful in gaining a well-rounded understanding of all the definitions for Eccentricity. Including the synonyms for the word was also helpful but the source does not seem to be very credible because it is a branch of wikipedia which can be edited by many different people.

This source is credible because it comes from Oxford's online dictionary. The definitions it gave were helpful because they put the terms into plain english and made it possible to relate Eccentricity to the texts used in this class.

an oddity or peculiarity, as of conduct: an interesting man, known for his eccentricities. 2. the quality of being eccentric. 3. the amount by which something is eccentric. 4. Machinery. the distance between the centers of two cylindrical objects one of which surrounds the other, as between an eccentric and the shaft on which it is mounted. 5. Mathematics. a constant expressed as the ratio of the distance from a point on a conic to a focus and the distance from the point to the directrix.
this resource is very credible from the dictionary. and provides 5 definitions to help us understand eccentricity. Great resource!

I really liked this website’s take on eccentricity. I like how it relate d it to different people’s personalities. It really helped me better associate it with my author and his personality, which in turn helped me better understand his text (given that it was his autobiography). I would consider this to be a credible website because it provided numerous links to related sites and additional resources.

Given that this was only an online dictionary and that it only listed the definition, I found it to be very brief and lacking any description of the actual theme itself. I did like the definition it provided. ‘Deviating from the recognized or customary character, practice, etc’. The definition that the resource I used was based on the behavior side of eccentricity so it was interesting to read about a different aspect of the theme.

As I stated on previous postings... this site is very helpful because it states the meaning on the word eccentricity instead of looking into eccentricity in a small blurb on a page about an author.

This site was credible because it was found on the MCC database.. however it was about one of Poe's books and didn't really define eccentricity. ALthough maybe the two could be linked.. it didn't help me to understand the meaning of the word.

I like that this source gives the definition for eccentricity as used in more than one field. It is helpful to know that words have many different uses and meanings if one is going to be able to truly understand it.

This source is an informative dictionary and would be good for semantic research. This is a very helpful posting because it not only defines eccentricity, but it also explains how we could read the character of Gerty as eccentric.

This posting could have defined eccentricity to better inform later researchers. Also, it refers to Thomas Paine being eccentric. Since I also researched Paine, I can definitely see the conection. It might help others, though, to provide an example of how Paine's work would be considered eccentric.

I really liked this resource because it not only gave definitions of the term eccentricity it also gaves likes to different forms. Like how it relates to behavior and also the term eccentricity in mathematics. It was very different from my resource because my resource focused in on how the term is related to literature and characters and where the term came from. I liked both resources because the gave different information.

This resource was a link to the definition of eccentricity which is an oddity or peculiarity. There were also definitions on the same word from different sources which was helpful because if you don't understand what one definition is meaning you can read another one. I liked by resource better because it also went into more depth about the fact that the term was first used in astronomy.

10: This source looks at eccentricity mostly as it applies to "genius"or highly intelligent people. My biggest concern about this source is that wikis are generally not reliable sources, and even more worrisome are the two blaring warnings at the top of the page that state "This article or section relies largely or entirely upon a single source" and "This article or section may contain original research or unverified claims" These two warnings do cause me quite a bit of concern

5: Personally, i don't feel that this source really provides any information. Mostly, it's a bunch of quotes about people who think they are eccentric just because they are a bit different. Personally, i think this site takes the term too lightly and doesn't provide any useful information in researching eccentricity as a theme.
