This Wiki goes into great detail about the different narrative modes and what they each involve. I like that it discusses the 4 different types of 3rd person narrators in depth. There are sources at the bottom, though none of them stand out as scholarly. I would still consider this source reliable because the information is accurate.

This site gives a lot of information about point of view. It includes descriptions of the different types of narrators (1st, 2nd, and 3rd person) and explains what an unreliable, limited, and omniscient narrator are. I think it is a great source and it is reliable because it is on a school site and written by someone with a PhD.

This is a good source that is reliable because it is hosted by a university. Although students are allowed to write the definitions, a professor supervises the site.
Specifically, I like the last part of the definition. “Understanding the point of view used in a work is critical to understanding literature; it serves as the instrument to relay the events of a story, and in some instances the feelings and motives of the character(s).” I think this is well stated and helpful if kept in mind while studying literature.

Wow, this is a great source! It describes each point of view in clear, precise language. After reading this page, I have no doubts about each point of view. I definitely recommended this site. It is credible because it is from New York Univeristy.

This source is credible because it comes from an accredited encyclopedia. It was brief but the definition was very clear.

This was a very good resource for learning about point of view. It provided very thorough definitions and descriptions of all of the different types of point of views. It also provided a link at the end of the article that takes you to a page on how the point of view can shape a character and vice versa. Overall I found this website to be very helpful and very informational.

The Blue Quill website provided good information for writers who are struggling with point of view in their writings. It gives a general description of point of view and then branches out into the sub categories of the term and explains those. This is a credible website because it is clearly well researched and is an up and coming database for many different literary topics.

This site was credible because it was a classroom web site created by the teacher. The definitions were literary directed, i just wish they were a little more complex.

this site, like most on point of view broke it down into the different types of point of view that exist in writing. This was a lot like most of the other resources used.

When I first read this post, I have to admit that I was curious about the source--the Dummies books. But after reading the resource, I found it informative and useful. It went beyond a basic definition and gave explanations of the various possible points of view. It goes to show--you can't judge a book by its Dummies cover!

Although this resource uses science fiction to illustrate point of view, it gives the device a definition that we can apply to other texts. As we see point of view analysis working for sci-fi, we can apply it to our own study of literature.

1. This resource is almost exaclty like mine but on a different site. It descibes all three of the points of view. First person, second person and third person. The only difference from this site to mine is that my describes point of view and what it means to the story.
5. This resource is great because it describes point of view and breaks it down into the different points of view just like my source did but this source takes it a step farther by defining mixed point of view and even how gives examples of stories and changing the point of view. This part was great because it gave you a sense of how important point of view is to a story.

7: i found this to be a useful resource because it was a short, but mostly thorough in describing Point of View. It does provide information on what P.O.V.s there are and how they are used.
9: I really think this is a fantastic source in general. The information provided covers many different literary terms and is very easy to understand. It information on POV is simple, but provides what is needed in order to understand the term in relation to literature.
