This source is actually about rhyme, but I think rhyme definitely plays into rhythm. This Wiki discusses examples of rhyme, the importance of it, and gives definitions of the many different types of rhyme. There is also an etymology and a history. I wouldn't normally use a Wiki, but there are some outside sources cited and some reference links.

Dictionary.com is a great site that I use often. It gives more than 10 different definitions of rhythm, many of which apply to literature and writing. It is a reliable source because it is a well known site and is based on the Random House dictionary.

This source is helpful because it gave a lot of poetry exerts so that one can get the hang of finding the rhythm. This site is credible because it the resources used in creating it are credible along with a clearly state author.

This resource gave good directions on how to decipher rhythm in a poem. It is credible because the author is an English and modern language professor.

This specific resource does have to do with poetry but mentions nothing but rhythm. I wouldn't really call this a credible source.

Resource #15
This is actually one of the resources that I used when conducting my own research. I really liked the definition that it gave, but I found the many examples it gave to be the most helpful. It would give an example of rhythm or rhyme in a poem and then explain why (i.e. what the pentameter was, etc.).

I think this is an excellent source for information related to the rhythm and rhyme scheme of poetry. It provides very useful information on things such as the types of rhymes, rhyme history, examples of how rhyming is used, and it also talks about rhyming for different cultures. It provided a very well rounded source of information and helped me relate it to the text that I was reading.

Definition #4 applies to poetry. It is straight-forward, but not in-depth. I’m unsure of the site’s reliability, since most of the information on the ‘about’ page discusses the technology behind the site. Still, the explanation of rhythm as a sequence of "stressed and unstressed elements" is a helpful way of looking at it.

I found this site helpful, and I think it is credible because of its .edu address.
Specifically, I like how the site defines regular rhythm as ‘meter.’ Also, while English poetry uses ‘stressed’ syllables, sometimes the terms ‘long’ or ‘short’ are used. The terms are misgiving because they are leftovers from classic poetry. During the Renaissance, people studied Greek and Roman poetry and tried to imitate it in ‘quantititive verse.’

This was credible because it was a poem web site... and we were looking for the definition of rhythm in the form of poems. It was an easy definition to understand but it was also more detailed which made it very useful.

I dont' like how this resource has so much advertisement going on all around the definition. It takes away from the main point.

This site would help to provide basic information about rhythm and provides links for further reading on meter and rythm patterns. This posting displayed a clear understanding of rhythm and was very helpful; it gave an example of rhythm in Dickinson's poetry and also explained how other techniques such as alliteration establish a rhythm.

I found this resource when researching another literary term, so I was a bit familiar with it. I would recommend this resource for someone trying to understand poetic rhythm because it not only defines rhythm, but also gives examples of types of rhythm so a reader can see how rhythm works in poetry.

This resource gave many different defintions of rhythm which I think is great because it gives different ways to understand the meaning. The only think was that the defintions focused on rhythm in music instead of in literature. My website gave a better understanding of how rhythm works in poetry as well as examples which were not on this resource.

This resource not only gives the definition of rhythm which is the patterned of stressed and unstressed syllables in a line but also has links to other defintions such as meter. It also tells how the rhythm was used in Greek and English which unique information that my resource didn't have. Mine resource was did give examples of rhythm which was a plus as well as the different styles of rhythms such as internal rhythm and slant rhythm which gave more understanding into the different types of rhymths. I liked both resources because they gave different information.

9: This site offers a brief description of rhythm and of Iambic pentameter as it relates to sonnets for example. I think that this is a great point for someone to begin while looking for information on what rhythm is in general.
14: This is probably one of the best possible sources there is on rhythm. The source defines the term and then branches out to discuss all of the different forms of poetic rhythm there are, and best of all, it provides comprehensive examples. This site is a perfect place to study rhythm.
