My name is Joe Goeman. I'm a student at the Masters College in California. I enjoy computer science, weightlifting, and an occasional good book.

I'm taking this class because it fulfills a general education requirement for me. I really just needed an english class. But American Literature sounded familiar to me and sounded like something I could get a good grasp of if I tried. In this class I want to learn about American literature the different periods and expand my ability to think critically. I expect to do a lot of research, writing, and learning in this class.

I hope we can all have fun together while we learn and look forward to the class with all of you!

Hey everyone! My name is Katherine Saunders and in the fall I will be a senior at Arizona State University. One year to go then off to the "real world."

I am taking this class because it is a general requirement for my minor in English Literature. It's extremely cheaper to take a summer class at a community college than it is ASU. [$300 compared to $2400]. Unfortunately, there is no other class that I could have taken to fulfill the requirement, however, I am looking forward to this class.

To be completely honest, literature prior to the 1900s does not interest me, however I hope that in taking this course I will actually enjoy the assigned the material and gain a larger understanding of text I once disliked reading. I hope to finish this class having read interesting material which I can teach my future students.

In this class I expect to do a lot of reading, research, and, of course, writing, but that's the life of a history major and an English minor so it's nothing that I am not ready for.

Here's to summer school!
