This site explains what self confidence is, why some people lack confidence in themselves, and how to improve self confidence. It does not relate to literature, but it does give a lot of great information about self confidence that could be used to relate to literature. I found it informative and reliable.

I thought this website was very interesting. It lists all of the Bible verses related to self esteem. I can see how this site would be helpful if I were writing a paper about a piece of writing with religious themes to it. It does provide links to other sources as well.

this source improved my understanding of the different instances that self-confidence can be applied and made it easier to make the connection to literature. This source is credible because it gave many definitions not just a one-sided view and is supported by Oxford University Press.

this source was very helpful in understanding how an individual gains self-confidence but it was slightly hard to put into literary terms. This site is crdible because it came from a university's web page and is frequently updated.

This resource is credible and helps one better understand self confidence. Defined : "confidence in oneself, one's own abilities, etc."

"Confidence in oneself; often in an unfavourable sense, arrogant or impudent reliance on one's own powers." a very good definition from a credible resource to help udnerstand self confidence.

This source is an improvement over #20. It features examples of the different uses and contexts of the word, not just its definition. There are also similar words listed at the bottom of the page, in case you want to compare them. The site is also credible because it won awards from Forbes and The Washington Post. I only wish there weren’t as many ads.

This resource isn’t very helpful. Although Encarta is a credible site (hosted by Microsoft), this entry is only a brief dictionary definition. It just describes self-confidence as: “confidence in yourself and your own abilities.” Unlike other dictionaries, there aren’t any sentences, links, or other resources to help place the term into context.

Although this website only provided a definition for self confidence, I did find it useful. I liked the example that it gave of how self confidence can be used in sentences for literature. My only true problem with this was that it was so brief. I had never heard of this online dictionary before, which makes me question its credibility even though it provided good information.

I really liked this resource. It was very informative and talked on a few different areas associated with self confidence. It provided a very good definition that I believe encompassed all of what self confidence is. I liked how it talked about high levels of self confidence as well as low levels; it helped to distinguish which one the character I was reading about in my texts was experiencing. I would classify this as a credible website because it provides an array of other topics similar to self confidence.

I found this site to be just as useful because it provided a standard easy to understand definition. It was also credible because it was found on the MCC library data base.

In general, I found the Oxford Dictionary to be the best source for these themes/etc. because it gives you the straight forward definition of what it means and doesn't look around at other topics within the subject. It provides the best information in the simplest way.

I am not sure that this definition is enough. It seems to be more of a quote than a definition. i would recommend using a definition from a different sight instead of this one.

This site gives a good definition of self-confidence. Since it is a dictionary entry, I do not expect much elaboration. It would be helpful for the posting to make a connection to how self-confidence could be seen in literature.

I agree that it was difficult to find resources that spoke particularly of American literature and self-esteem. I think that the basic information obtained from this source can be helpful in creating a working definition of self-esteem, but one would need to be open to expanding on it. I would have liked the posting to further explain how self-esteem could manifest in literature.

11: I think this resource is very basic, but defining a term is definitely important in order to fully understand that term as a theme in literature. The examples are a bit confusing sometimes, but otherwise, this is a great resource.
12: This website does provide ideas on how to improve your self confidence in your writing, but there is no definition, and it doesn't really apply to writing about self confidence, only writing with self confidence. It is a good source for the information it provides, I just don't know if the context is appropriate. On the other hand, I had an incredibly difficult time finding a source about self confidence and in light of that, I definitely understand!

3. This resource is a great website that tells you not only the definition of self confidence but also gives helpful hints to improve on your self confindence. This source unlike my is for self confidence in general where my website forcused on self confidence in writing.
6. This resource gave a defintion of self confidence but I felt like it wasn't quite enough because it didn't relate to writing or how we can improve on self confidence. Or even the fact of explaining how important good self confidence is.
