About me
Jun 3 2009, 1:48 PM EDT
Hey everyone! My name is Katherine Saunders and in the fall I will be a senior at Arizona State University. One year to go then off to the "real world."I am taking this class because it is a general requirement for my minor in English Literature. It's extremely cheaper to take a summer class at a community college than it is ASU. [$300 compared to $2400]. Unfortunately, there is no other class that I could have taken to fulfill the requirement, however, I am looking forward to this class. To be completely honest, literature prior to the 1900s does not interest me, however I hope that in taking this course I will actually enjoy the assigned the material and gain a larger understanding of text I once disliked reading. I hope to finish this class having read interesting material which I can teach my future students. In this class I expect to do a lot of reading, research, and, of course, writing, but that's the life of a history major and an English minor so it's nothing that I am not ready for. Here's to summer school! Katherine Saunders Do you find this valuable?

Hi Katherine,It sounds like we are in the same boat... I definitely don't want to think about graduating next year... I also did not want to pay a ridiculous amount for summer school at ASU! Luckily I was able to get in-state-tuition with MCC for summer courses because I am from Colorado and the states have some general understanding between some western schools where students can pay in-state-tuition... All schools participate in Arizona, but not ASU! Go figure. Anywho, I hope you enjoy the class :) -Lexie Do you find this valuable? |

Hi Katherine! I definitely understand the financial benefits of attending MCC. I'm trying to do as much as I can here before I have to go back to ASU. I can't believe how expensive it is, even for in-state! It's seems like being a history major will help you a little with the older works. I don't know what you've really studied, but perhaps you might have a little more understanding of the world the authors lived in and what influences it had upon their writings. Hello there! I know what you mean on all that... I start at NAU this fall and I'm trying to squeeze in every last $65 credit hour I possibly can before I make the switch. :) I also definitely feel you on being prepared for lots and lots of reading and research, followed by even more writing -- I'm an English major! Lol, I sure hope we like the class! Brandi Do you find this valuable? |

Katherine,I am doing the same thing as you!I am going onto my junior year, and rather than pay so much for ASU summer school, or have to take 19 credit hours, and online classes just seemed like the best option! And I'm jealous that you are doing a history major, I was in a british lit class last semester, and it does help a lot to know what is going on in the time that the author had written the book!
